LICET Library established in the year 2010 and it serves the students and teaching fraternity. The Central library has a collection of about 36029 books while the department library has 10400 volumes. Nearly 2600 books are reference books (Handbooks, Dictionaries, Encyclopedias, etc.). The library also has 1306 CDs/DVDs and subscribes to 45 printed journals and E- Journals like IEEE, ASME, Springer, Elsevier Science Direct etc. The library has been actively meeting the needs of the students and faculty members.

  • Monday to Friday – 7.30 am to 7.00 pm
  • Book issue and return/renewal – 7.45 am to 5.00 pm

  • Classification – Dewy Decimal Classification (DDC)

  • Online reservation can be done for a book, which is already lent out. Reserved books are kept separately in the circulation counter for 1 day for each member. The reservation lapses automatically after a day and the next person gets the chance.
  • Renewals is allowed only when there is no claim by others. It is done only when the book is physically brought to the library for stamping the due date
  • Circulation Section manages issuing, renewing and return of books
  • The privilege of borrowing books from the library is restricted to the LICET community only
  • Faculty and student can enroll as library members by filling the membership application form & submitting the same along with photocopies of the institutional ID card
  • Students should submit the membership application after obtaining their multipurpose institutional identity card
  • OPAC Login can be done with Student ID and Password
  • Students should personally borrow books at the Circulation Counter
  • The member should present his/her ID card when borrowing books, failing which they are refused to issue books
  • Transfer of books is not permissible

Reference books, serial publications, reserved books, thesis & dissertations, CD/DVD, loose issues & bound volumes of periodicals are not for circulation.
The members can approach at the enquiry desk for any query and get help regarding the library collections, catalogue, and availability of any document or any other facility of the Library.

All bonafide members are entitled to access electronic resources through campus network. However, bulk copying, systematic downloading or use of such electronic materials for commercial purposes and other such usages which are in violation of IPR rules or other relevant rules and regulations of the country, is strictly prohibited. Strict actions will be taken, if any breach of law is detected.

Central library provides photocopy services through commercial vendor within the library and college premises on payment basis.

Rules

  • The users enter after swiping their ID card in the entry machine kept at the security counter. Similarly, when they leave the library, the leaving time should also be entered in the gate entry register
  • Silence must be observed inside the library and loud talking is prohibited in all parts of the library. As the library is the place of individual study and research, members should conduct themselves in such a way so as to maintain an atmosphere conducive to this
  • Use of mobile phone inside the library is not permitted. Photography/videography inside the library is prohibited generally
  • Books should be handled with care. Marking on books is most objectionable and may lead to cancellation of membership privileges
  • Our Library is following open access system and hence the members have the privilege of direct access to books
  • After use, the book may be left on the nearest table and the same will be shelved by the library staff
  • Members utilizing the internet browsing facilities only for academic purpose, should enter the member number, name, login time and logout time in the register kept for this purpose in the respective section
  • For better use of the Library, members can seek the help of the Library staff. Any infringement of the above will render the privilege of admission to the library and borrowing of books from the library liable to forfeiture

Expectation

  • Maintain discipline in the library and form queues at circulation counter
  • Carry ID Cards at all times & produce them on demand
  • Pay attention to the library notice board
  • Discourage friends from other colleges
  • Show the documents which are being taken out of the library to the staff at the check point
  • Contact the staff on duty for any queries
  • Keep the Library premises tidy

Don’ts

  • Move books/journals, chairs/tables from their place
  • Replace the material. Please remember the document misplaced is document lost
  • Write in a book/journal and on the library document
  • Give ID cards to others

General Instructions

  • Identity card should be shown at the checkpoint on demand
  • Leave your bags, handbags and personal belongings at the depository
  • Show the documents, which are being taken out of the Library, to the staff at the checkpoint
  • Books on loan can be recalled at any time irrespective of the period of loan at the discretion of the Librarian
  • Library users are strictly prohibited from taking the borrowed and stamped books again inside the library
  • Membership Cards are not transferable
  • Books will be issued subject to availability only
  • Absence from the college will not be allowed as an excuse for the delay in the return of books
  • Under special circumstances, the Librarian may refuse the issue of books or recall the books already issued from any member without assigning any reason thereof
  • Fine structures are displayed on the Library Notice Boards
  • If the due date falls on a holiday for the Library, the next working day will be taken as the due date
  • Bound volumes and unbound issues of periodicals, reference books, damaged books and CD-ROMs are not issued on loan
  • Before leaving the counter the members must make sure that the books lent to them are in good condition and if not, they must immediately bring the matter to the notice of the staff on duty at the circulation counter. Otherwise they shall be held responsible for any damage discovered afterwards
  • Books should be handled with care. Marking on books is most objectionable and may lead to cancellation of membership privileges. Our library is following open access system and hence the members have the privilege of direct aces to book shelves including reference. A book could be freely taken out of the shelves, but on no account should it be reshelved by the members as it leads to misplacement of books. After use, the book may be left on the nearest table and the same will be shelved by the library staff
  • Loss of books on loan should be immediately reported to the librarian. Members are liable to replace such books or pay on amount five times equivalent the cost of the book. If one volume of a set is lost, the whole set will have to be replaced. The members are liable to pay the overdue charges as admissible, in addition to the cost of the book up to the date on which the loss was reported. If the book reported as lost is later found out and returned, then overdue charges will be collected from the due date
  • Internet facility can be availed by all category of library members with prior permission from the librarian. During library hour student should refrain from using computer facilities. They can access only the E-Journals subscribed and study materials
  • Library may accept donation of manuscripts, books, periodicals etc. from the donors. Such donations once accepted will become the absolute property of the college
  • Library members can make a printout copy of the articles from journals accessed in the central library
  • Loss of ID card has to be reported immediately
  • As each borrower is responsible for the book issued it is requested not to lend his card to others. Collect your ID cards without fail after returning the books from the circulation counter
  • No due clearance will be issued at the end of every semester after clearing all library due
  • Use the dustbins provided in the reading area

  • The above rules are intended to regulate the use of Library resources and will be reviewed periodically to meet the changing needs
  • Any changes in the rules or instructions or information to members will be notified on the library Notice Board as and when required
