The Jesuits are the members of a Catholic religious community called the Society of Jesus, founded in 1540 by Saint Ignatius of Loyola. The Jesuits are deeply rooted in the love for Christ and driven by the vision of their founder St. Ignatius of Loyola, focus to help the needy and seek God in all things. They chose education as the key to uplift the downtrodden and the marginalized. Jesuit institutions focus on the integral formation of individuals with academic, spiritual and human values. The “Ratio Studiorum” or “Guide to Education” evolved by the Jesuits in 1599 remains as a universal code for education. The Jesuit educational pedagogy is an integral formation of individuals as leaders with social responsibility. Students are called to do their very best and to always strive for personal excellence in all aspects of life – intellectual, emotional, moral and physical. They are formed to be ``men and women for others:`` that is, the good things- material and spiritual which they want for themselves, they should wish for others too.

LICET is a new venture of the Jesuits to make technical education accessible to all without compromise on academic excellence. LICET is committed to forming individuals who would work for social transformation. In this modern era, technical education is expected to meet the challenges in the world of scientific and technological advancement. Though LICET has to follow the syllabi of Anna University, value added courses and skill-based training are additionally offered at LICET. LICET nurtures building industry–institution interface; and to evolve as the epicenter of social change. The institute creates an atmosphere for the over-all growth of students. The students are given opportunities to showcase their multi-talents, be it in academic, cultural or sports. Retreat for Catholic students and life skills for others are conducted for their spiritual growth. God quotient is a factor of importance at LICET. The campus ministry team offers services and occasions for students and staff to retrospect and experience spiritual well-being. LICET, with excellent infrastructure, is making all genuine efforts to form engineers with creativity, compassion, competence and commitment.
